Supply List: Quilting 101

Must-Haves: Bring to Class

Rotary Cutter--45 mm

Acrylic Ruler: 6 ½ “ x 24 “

Scissors (for thread and fabric)

Fine Pins (glass-head or flat)

Seam ripper

Purple Thang

Best Press/Starch--small container

Sewing machine you know how to use

Sewing machine manual (or website from which you can download it) ? Sewing Machine Seam Guide Template (small ruler with seam allowances marked)

50 weight cotton sewing thread (Aurifil, preferably) in a neutral

Two pre-wound bobbins

Sewing machine needles (size 80/12 or 75/11)

Microtex/Sharp--used for Batiks

Universals--Cottons

Sewing machine feet

General purpose foot (usually the foot on your machine)

¼” foot (Quarter-Inch Foot)--used to sew a ¼” seam,

Walking foot: use this for the actual quilting

Batting: Cotton Batting, Crib Size

Marking Pen: Frixion

Tape measure (120”)

Safety pins 2 package Size 2

Binding needles

 

Must-Haves: Keep at Home

Self-Healing Cutting Mat: 18” x 24” or larger (store flat)

Best-Press/Starch

Iron and Ironing Board

Sewing machine oil

Cleaning brush

 

Quilt Country Classroom Guidelines

To ensure all Quilt Country students get the most out of their classes, we ask that you please follow the guidelines below:

  1.      Students are expected to be on time, with all supplies, and ready to go by start of class.  
  2.      After unloading your class supplies, please move your car to the parking lot in the middle of the shopping center.
  3.      Due to common allergies, please do not wear perfume to class.
  4.      For the safety of all, please keep your belongs stowed. Check for stray pins and tidy your sewing area when packing up after class.
  5.      Please turn off cell phone ringers during class and only receive calls outside the classroom.
  6.      Please be considerate and do not bring children to class, unless the class is specifically for children, and the child is participating in the class.  
  7.      Please mind your conversations in volume and content so everyone feels comfortable.

Quilt Country Classroom Policy

  1.      All students attend class at their own risk.
  2.      The use of any Quilt Country tools and equipment is at the students’ own risk.
  3.      Quilt Country is not responsible for the loss of or damage to students’ personal items.
  4.      At the instructor’s discretion, students arriving 15 minutes or more after the start of class may not be permitted to take the class – tuition will be forfeited.
  5.      If you are unable to attend the class (cancellation policy):
  6.      If attendance is cancelled a week or more in advance of the class – full refund.
  7.      If attendance is cancelled between 3 and 7 days in advance of the class – store credit will be issued for the class fee amount.
  8.       No refund or credit will be issued for “no shows” or cancellations less than three (3) days in advance of the class.
