Building Block Sampler #2 - Half Square Triangles and Quarter Square Triangles (The Quilting Book)



DESCRIPTION:
Sew along with us as we make the Building Blocks Sampler from The Quilting Book! During Class 2, we will learn how to make Half Square Triangles (HSTs) four ways and Quarter Square Triangles (QSTs) one way. Our Tips and Tricks focus for this class is using leaders and enders. We will complete Units 5, 8, 15, 17, and 18 from the Building Blocks Sampler. Please arrive to class ready to sew with the required tools and all fabrics pressed, cut, and labeled.

TOOLS (required):
A copy of The Quilting Book
Sewing machine
Pins
Rotary cutter
Small cutting mat
Seam ripper
Rectangular ruler at least 3 ½” x 12 ½”
Square ruler at least 6 ½” x 6 ½”
Marking tool (pen, pencil, erasable marker, etc.)
Iron and small pressing mat
Snips or small scissors

TOOLS (optional):
Your preferred Half Square Triangle trimming ruler (at least 3 ½” x 3 ½”)

FABRICS:
HSTs (one at a time)
H4: (1) dark blue 4” x 4” square
BG4: (1) background 4” x 4” square

HSTs (two at a time)
A3: (1) dark pink 4” x 4” square
BG4: (1) background 4” x 4” square

HSTs (four at a time)
D5: (1) orange 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” square
BG13: (1) background 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” square

HSTs (eight at a time)
G3: (1) light blue 8” x 8” square
BG7: (1) background 8” x 8” square

QSTs
E6: (2) lime green 6 ½” x 6 ½” squares
BG14: (2) background 6 ½” x 6 ½” squares

   

Quilt Country Classroom Guidelines

To ensure all Quilt Country students get the most out of their classes, we ask that you please follow the guidelines below:

  1.      Students are expected to be on time, with all supplies, and ready to go by start of class.  
  2.      After unloading your class supplies, please move your car to the parking lot in the middle of the shopping center.
  3.      Due to common allergies, please do not wear perfume to class.
  4.      For the safety of all, please keep your belongs stowed. Check for stray pins and tidy your sewing area when packing up after class.
  5.      Please turn off cell phone ringers during class and only receive calls outside the classroom.
  6.      Please be considerate and do not bring children to class, unless the class is specifically for children, and the child is participating in the class.  
  7.      Please mind your conversations in volume and content so everyone feels comfortable.

Quilt Country Classroom Policy

  1.      All students attend class at their own risk.
  2.      The use of any Quilt Country tools and equipment is at the students’ own risk.
  3.      Quilt Country is not responsible for the loss of or damage to students’ personal items.
  4.      At the instructor’s discretion, students arriving 15 minutes or more after the start of class may not be permitted to take the class – tuition will be forfeited.
  5.      If you are unable to attend the class (cancellation policy):
  6.      If attendance is cancelled a week or more in advance of the class – full refund.
  7.      If attendance is cancelled between 3 and 7 days in advance of the class – store credit will be issued for the class fee amount.
  8.       No refund or credit will be issued for “no shows” or cancellations less than three (3) days in advance of the class.
