T-Shirt Quilt Class

Book: T-Shirt Quilts Made Easy available at Quilt Country*
Sewing machine in good working order.
Quarter inch foot for your sewing machine & a walking foot if you have one.
12 1/2" square ruler**
Basic sewing and cutting supplies:
- Cutting mat, rotary cutter (with a new blade), scissors, coordinating thread, iron, pins and magic clips, seam ripper, etc.
- We can use the cutting mats at the store, but if you have your own 18" x 24" mat or larger, I would recommend that you bring it.
- If you have a rotating cutting mat, it will make cutting easier.
T-shirts based on the size and style of quilt you want to make.***
Lunch - You may bring your lunch (we have a refrigerator and microwave), you can order in, or there is a Starbucks in the parking lot within walking distance. Drinks are also available for purchase at Quilt Country.
*The T-Shirts Made Easy book is not required, but it does have different ways of laying out your
T-shirts. If you are new to quilting, the quilt on page 34 in the book is the best place to start.
** The 12 1/2" square ruler is very helpful since most people cut the t-shirts to 12 1/2". I will bring the 15" ruler I used for us to share, but having one the correct size makes cutting easier and more precise.
***We can choose fabric for sashing, borders, corner stones, etc. during class. If you have a layout/pattern and already have fabric, that is great! Bring it with you to class!
Before coming to class, it will save time if you have trimmed your shirts. Feel free to cut off the sleeves and separate the front from the back, but make sure you do not cut your shirt smaller than 14" x 14". We will add the fusible to the shirt prior to trimming to the exact size and you do not want the fusible to get on your iron. If you have other pieces of you shirt you would like to try to include in the quilt (such as a pocket or sleeve, etc.), leave as much fabric around the item as you can.

You can make this quilt as easy or as intricate as you would like. I will show you the basics and can help with layout of ideas to make it your own! This is a fun way to make a quilt and spend time with other quilters. Who knows, you may even get some ideas!
